DuPont Underground is a local arts collective in the heart of DC located at the intersection of Dupont Circle and New Hampshire Avenue. This awesome arts organization seeks to foster creative expression of the avant-garde form which “crosses disciplinary boundaries and is informed by areas such as technology, science, philosophy, and commerce.”
In addition to supporting several public art projects and contemporary art exhibits, it is hosting a tour of the 75,000 sq ft of re-purposed underground infrastructure that used to be the DC underground streetcar system…and it’s pretty awesome.
The guided tour gives a historical breakdown in addition to letting visitors view the upcycled space and lasts 45mins long. Groups are limited to 30 persons and suited for adults and children over the age of 12.
